For the best results follow these instructions:
- Give
PICgrabber
some time... let it search for at least 2-3 minutes, preferable 5-10 minutes, you will get the best results this way.
- Choose the right keywords · If you are looking for images always include the keyword "images", "pictures" and/or "gallery"... this will increase the success
- Don't choose general keywords, like "movie" - you should be more precise, use "free movies and cars".
- If you find a good page (URL), right click it in "web-scan" view and from that menu choose "start URL-Scan on this page".
This will make PICgrabber
start searching on this page and focus your search from here. In essence narrowing your search when you find a results rich
URL.

how to
use the Options tab
|
1. Enter the minimum image WIDTH
2. Enter the minimum image HEIGHT
Only images that exceed these two parameters will be saved - this prevents
PICgrabber
from saving banners, buttons, etc. It will skip all those smaller than the parameters.
3. Enter the minimum file size in KB
4. Enter the maximum file size in KB
Only files (movies, images, etc.) that exceed these parameters will be saved - this prevents
PICgrabber
from saving banners, buttons, etc.
5. Auto-Update - Selected = Enabled
If this checkbox is selected,
PICgrabber
will automatically check for a new version of
PICgrabber
at startup. If there is a new version available,
PICgrabber
will automatically start to download and update the software - STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!
6. URL Filters
This is one of the options you should choose very carefully. If you enter too many filterwords,
PICgrabber
may skip any page it finds. Use Keywords in this filter that aren't worth searching, e.g. Netscape, Microsoft (if you don't select "Microsoft " as a filter,
PICgrabber
may visit a link to Microsoft and try to scan EVERY page on msn - this will take hours and no files will be found). Banners, Pay, Join are keywords you should use in the filter.
7. File Types
Select the file types you want to look for. If you are looking for movies you should select AVI, MPG and MPEG, pictures you should select JPG, JPEG & GIF etc.
8/9.
Filetypes
Other file types (ZIP, JAR, etc.) can be added to this list by typing the file extension without the "." and click "ADD". Don't forget to select your new file type after you have added it.
10. Download Directory
If you wish to change the default download-directory just click on "Change" and go to the folder you want to have the files saved to. Download ANY file to confirm the new download-directory will accept
PICgrabber
files. There must be at least one file in the folder to select the new directory.
11. "Tasks"
The checked boxes will determine how many files will download at the same time. Here you can select 1- 4 tasks. Depending on your connection speed you should limit your downloads per the following list:
14 Modem = 1 Task
28 Modem = 1 Task
56 Modem = 2 Tasks
ISDN = 3 Tasks
DSL, Cable, etc, = 3-4 Tasks
